Hey Chaos Planners! Remember me? The slightly-out-of-shape, perpetually-exhausted mompreneur who, ten weeks ago, embarked on a mission to reclaim my abs (or at least create the illusion of them)? Well, I’m back again!
Remember that post, Six Weeks In for the Six-Pack? Yeah, well, let’s just say the jury’s still out on the official six-pack situation (although there’s definitely a hint of something forming down there!). But what’s become crystal clear, in a way it wasn’t before, is the power of consistency.
Here’s the thing: when you’re juggling a business, five energetic little boys, and a life that seems to move at the speed of light, feeling the “burn” from a workout is easy. It’s the inevitable ache in your muscles, the slight shortness of breath after those last few lunges. It’s a reminder that, yes, you actually did something for yourself.
But what happens after those initial six weeks? That’s where the true magic (or maybe it’s just delayed gratification?) takes hold. Let’s just say, the changes are starting to show, not just in how I feel, but in how I see myself.
From Feeling to Seeing: A Transformation Takes Shape
Okay, so maybe I haven’t morphed into a fitness goddess overnight. But here’s the deal: I look different! My face is thinner, and to me I look more feminine which I love. Plus, my clothes are fitting differently. That stubborn muffin top? It’s not quite as stubborn anymore. And yes, I did a victory dance (okay, maybe a jig) when I finally zipped up a pair of jeans that haven’t seen the light of day since… well, let’s just say they were pre-Jack.
The number on the scale might not have plummeted (although, hey, a 5-pound weight loss ain’t nothin’ to sneeze at!), but my body composition is definitely changing. That flabby upper arm situation? It’s starting to show some definition. My core feels stronger, tighter. And that little voice in my head that used to say, “Ugh, not another workout,” is being replaced by a newfound sense of accomplishment.
Energy Unleashed: Embracing the Unexpected
But here’s the most incredible part: the way my fitness journey has translated into my everyday life. Remember how I used to shy away from anything remotely physical in fear I may hurt, or even embarrass myself? Those days are officially over.
Last weekend, we took the boys to a trampoline park. You know those platforms nestled in a sea of trampolines? The ones you have to jump off of but land on a trampoline and not blow out a knee? Yeah, the ones that make even the most fearless adult hesitate? Not this mama bear anymore. I was leaping off those platforms with the kids, laughing like a maniac. Sure, my knees might have protested a little, but I trusted my body and knew I now had the strength to pull it off, and of course pushing myself was exhilarating!
And the water slides at the local pool? Forget about it. Gone are the days of cautiously taking the stairs down. Headfirst into the deepest slide? You betcha! Racing the boys to the bottom? Bring it on! My newfound energy levels are a game-changer, and the boys are loving having a more adventurous mom to chase after them.
The Power of Consistency: Building a Sustainable Habit
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, of course. There are still days when the couch seems more appealing than a workout. But here’s the secret weapon I’ve discovered: consistency. It’s not about pushing yourself to the limit every single day. It’s about showing up, even if it’s just for a 20-minute core workout or a fun Zumba session.
The more I prioritize my fitness, the easier it becomes. My body craves the movement, the endorphin rush, the feeling of accomplishment. It’s become a part of my self-care routine, a non-negotiable investment in myself.
But Wait, There’s More!
This journey is far from over, Chaos Planners! Sure, I’m starting to see the results, but the ultimate goal isn’t just about sculpted abs (although, hey, I wouldn’t say no!). It’s about feeling strong, energized, and confident. Like strong enough to carry a sleeping toddler through Universal Studios! And it’s about setting a good example for my boys about healthy living and self-care.
So, stay tuned for more updates on my fitness journey. I’ll be sharing tips on how to stay motivated, how to find workouts that fit your crazy schedule, and maybe even some embarrassing stories about my attempts at mastering a full trip across the monkey bars at our local park (spoiler alert: it’s not going well).
